Ryan Newman is locked in a tight battle for the final Chase berth spot, but he will start this weekend’s race behind the eight ball.

Newman got into the wall in opening Cup Series practice which damaged his primary car too much to repair.

His team will roll out a back up car and the No. 6 car will start from the rear in Sunday’s Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 at New Hampshire.
