Many individuals have many different agendas and reasons for sharing information with us or others out there. These rumors should not be treated as 100-percent fact or 100-percent set in stone. In the sport of NASCAR nothing is a for-sure slam dunk until it is officially signed and announced — and even then, sometimes things made ‘official’ fall apart.
A couple of weeks ago, TobyChristie.com published a strong silly season rumor that we had heard, which was that Daniel Suarez had several options as far as rides for the 2020 season were concerned.
At the time, it looked like Suarez was leaning toward taking over the No. 32 Ford Mustang for Go Fas Racing, who recently announced that they will be entering a technical alliance with Stewart-Haas Racing for the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series season.
However, according to what I am now hearing, things have changed over the last couple of weeks and Suarez has seemingly circled another option as his preferred landing spot.
From what I’ve heard, although Suarez may not be leaning toward racing for Go Fas anymore, he will more than likely still be staying in the SHR and Ford family and should slip into the team’s NASCAR Xfinity Series stable for next season.
If this rumor proves to be true and Suarez did indeed pass on the No. 32 ride, this means Corey LaJoie should be a shoe-in to return to his 2019 ride for 2020.
LaJoie, 28, had an incredible season in 2019 and team owner Archie St. Hilaire has made it obvious all along that he wants the talented driver back next season.
Not only did LaJoie continually find ways to make headlines last year in a variety of ways — charitable contributions, painting a part of the Charlotte Roval late at night and being a successful Podcast host — but LaJoie churned out solid results.
LaJoie had two top-10 finishes, including a career-best sixth-place finish at Daytona in July. Overall, he had four top-15 finishes and seven top-20’s. If he returns to the No. 32, even better results should be in store in 2020.
