Opening practice for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series was dominated by Stewart-Haas Racing. Clint Bowyer paced the session, Daniel Suarez was second and Aric Almirola was third. William Byron slapped the wall after a tire went down early in the session and Corey LaJoie’s car was destroyed when he lost his brakes after a 22-lap run.
Byron will stay in his primary car while LaJoie will be relegated to a backup car.
