Video: Brandon Jones Misses Shift; Triggers 17-Car Pileup on Martinsville Restart

It looks like the trend of chaos unfolding in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Martinsville will continue, after a 17-car pileup early in Saturday’s DUDE Wipes 250.

The accident started with Brandon Jones, who was running inside the top-five when he missed a shift on the restart, stacking up the entire outside lane and causing significant damage to several vehicles that had absolutely nowhere to go, including one of the fastest cars throughout the opening stage of the race, Aric Almirola, who sustained damage to his No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota GR Supra.

Among those involved include Brandon Jones, Aric Almirola, Austin Hill, Riley Herbst, Jeb Burton, Corey Heim, AJ Allmendinger, Parker Retzalff, Anthony Alfredo, Matt DiBenedetto, Jeremy Clements, Leland Honeyman, Hailie Deegan, Kyle Sieg, Brennan Poole, Logan Bearden, and Taylor Gray.

Corey Heim (No. 26 Sam Hunt Racing), AJ Allmendinger (No. 16 Kaulig Racing), Parker Retzlaff (No. 31 Jordan Anderson Racing), and Austin Hill (No. 21 Richard Childress Racing) were the only four cars to retire as a result of the incident, while several different drivers went laps down attempting to repair the damage.
