GMS Racing has continued to be a power-house organization in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Series in 2019, yet the organization is still looking to find it’s footing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

According to a new report from Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern, GMS’ team owner Maury Gallagher is seriously considering shutting the NXS operations down for the 2020 season.

The team could still field a 2020 NXS team if a driver brings full sponsorship funding for the effort.

John Hunter Nemechek is 11th in the NXS championship standings during his rookie season in the Series. JHN has four top-five finishes and 12 top-10s through 25 starts.

Even if GMS closes its NXS team, it is expected to continue fielding Trucks in the NGOTS in 2020 and beyond.

GMS currently fields trucks for Brett Moffitt and Sheldon Creed.

Moffitt has four wins this season and he leads the standings through two Playoff events, while Creed missed out on the Playoffs but has two second-place finishes this season.
