R.C. Enerson, a part-time competitor in the NTT IndyCar Series, will attempt to qualify for his first NASCAR Xfinity Series event in nearly four years, joining forces with SS-GreenLight Racing for the Focused Health 250 at Circuit of The Americas (COTA).

A native of New Port Richey, Florida, Enerson will get behind the wheel of the No. 14 Chevrolet Camaro for the Bobby Dotter-owned organization at the 3.41-mile road course, with sponsorship from long-time partner Lucas Oil School of Racing.

The 27-year-old racer has a pair of NASCAR National Series starts to his credit, making starts in both the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series as recently as 2021. Enerson’s previous excursion in the second-tier series came with SS-GreenLight Racing in 2020, where he finished 20th at Road America.

One season later, Enerson would make his debut in the NASCAR Cup Series at Watkins Glen International, driving the No. 15 Chevrolet Camaro for Rick Ware Racing, finishing 34th.

In the meantime, Enerson has been a sporadic competitor in the NTT IndyCar Series, competing in the 2023 Indianapolis 500 for Abel Motorsports. The driver-team pairing is scheduled to return to the biggest race on the IndyCar calendar again in 2024.

For Saturday’s Focused Health 250, Enerson will be part of a two-driver lineup for SS-GreenLight Racing that also includes Daniil Kvyat, who spent six years competing in Formula One. Neither driver has made a start in NASCAR’s top-three series at Circuit of The Americas, but both have immense road course experience.

Entering COTA, the No. 14 SS-GreenLight Racing entry sits 28th in NASCAR Xfinity Series owner points. While the possibility of a points provisional does exist, it is by no means guaranteed, meaning Enerson will want to post a qualifying time inside the top 33 to ensure he takes the green flag on Saturday.

Enerson is the third driver to get behind the wheel of the No. 14 Chevrolet in 2024, joining Daniel Suarez (Daytona) and JJ Yeley (Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Phoenix). Patrick Emerling and the aforementioned Daniil Kvyat have also been part of SS-GreenLight Racing’s stable this season.
