Daniel Suárez is set to run double-duty in NASCAR’s return to Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez next month.

In addition to his NASCAR Cup Series duties with Trackhouse Racing, where he drives the No. 99 Chevrolet, Suárez will also be competing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series event for JR Motorsports.

The 33-year-old driver, also a former champion of the NASCAR Xfinity Series (2016), will be piloting the No. 9 Chevrolet, with primary sponsorship from Quaker State — a supporter of Suarez and Trackhouse’s NASCAR Cup Series effort.

“Having the opportunity to compete in the Xfinity Series race makes the weekend in Mexico City even better,” said Suarez, who is the only Mexican-born winner in NASCAR Cup Series history.

“I’ve been very impressed with how fast JR Motorsports has been this season, and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the Quaker State Chevrolet in a few weeks. Being born and raised in Mexico is incredibly special to me. I have dreamed about racing in my home country every day since I left Mexico to chase my NASCAR dream in 2011. I appreciate everyone at Quaker State and JR Motorsports coming on board to make this a reality.”

The June 14 event will mark the first NASCAR Xfinity Series start of the 2025 season for Suarez, who last competed in the second-tier series in last July’s Chicago Street Race.

“I think everyone is going to be amazed by the reception in Mexico,” said Suárez. “We want to make this weekend permanent on the NASCAR calendar for many years.”

Suarez joins an impressive lineup of drivers for JR Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in Mexico City, which includes Connor Zilisch, Sammy Smith, Justin Allgaier, and Carson Kvapil.

“The historic arrival of the NASCAR Cup Series in Mexico is a milestone for motorsports. At Quaker State, we understand that on-track performance reflects a commitment to technology, cutting-edge technology, and engine protection. Our lubricants are formulated to protect vehicle engines, even in extreme conditions,” said Ricardo Ibarra, CEO of CS Shell & Quaker State.

The CW will have coverage of the NASCAR Xfinity Series event in Mexico City on Saturday, June 14 at 4:30 PM ET.
