NASCAR doesn’t usually like seeing cars creep very far past 200-miles-per-hour at Daytona and Talladega. After speeds approached 203 mph averages in Friday’s opening practice session, the sanctioning body has stepped in to calm things down a bit.
NASCAR will add a one-inch wicker to the nine-inch tall spoilers on the rear of the cars.
They will also allow teams to switch between two different gear ratios (.345 and .350) until qualifying for Sunday’s race.
These changes will take place for Friday’s final practice session.
