Matt Weber, a long-time engineer in NASCAR’s National Series, has been promoted to the role of crew chief for Jeremy Clements and Jeremy Clements Racing for the 2026 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.
Weber joined SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90 on Thursday (January 1) to discuss his recent career path, which, after taking a few twists and turns, has led to his first full-time crew chiefing job in NASCAR.
“Actually, the last year has been sort of a rollercoaster,” said Weber. “Last year, I started as the engineer for the No. 5 team at Our Motorsports, but we were notified before Dover that they were shutting down.”
The Mooresville, North Carolina-native explained that after finding out that Our Motorsports was shuttering its program, he called Shane Martin, the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series representative for Chevrolet, looking for a job, and was hooked up with Jeremy Clements Racing.
“We just started the Monday after Dover, you know, just helping out however I could,” Weber added. “Doing engineering sessions, sim sessions, helping put the cars together, running parts back-and-forth to Spartanburg (South Carolina, where the Jeremy Clements Racing shop is located), whatever it took. Then, it morphed quickly into a management role.”
The coming season will mark the first full-time gig as crew chief for Weber in NASCAR’s National Series, but it won’t be the first time the 41-year-old has been on top of the pit box — having called shots for FRS Racing, Our Motorsports, and Niece Motorsports, amongst others.
Weber is also a four-time race-winning crew chief in the ARCA Menards Series, having captured victories with three different operations, including Mason Mitchell Motorsports and Venturini Motorsports.
Jeremy Clements Racing (JCR) has been a fixture in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series for more than a decade, but has utilized three different crew chiefs in the last three seasons — with Mark Setzer on-board in 2024, Kase Kallenbach serving as shot-caller in 2025, and now Mark Weber joining the team in the role for 2026.
This season, though, the organization is taking a significant step towards becoming a weekly contender for top-10 results, inking a technical alliance with Haas Factory Team for its No. 51 Chevrolet — a partnership that will see the team operate out of the juggernaut team’s building in North Carolina.
Jeremy Clements, a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina, is one of the most tenured veterans in the history of NASCAR’s second-tier series, amassing a career total of 530 starts — third all-time behind Kenny Wallace and Jason Keller.
The 2026 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series campaign will begin with the season-opener at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 14 at 5:30 PM on The CW, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
