Lavar Scott is set to compete full-time in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series in 2026, running for Rookie of The Year (ROTY) honors with Alpha Prime Racing.

Scott, a native of Carney’s Point, New Jersey, will get behind the wheel of the No. 45 Chevrolet for the entire 33-race campaign, beginning at Daytona International Speedway in February.

“Don’t know what to say or type,” Scott said in a social media post sharing the news. “Just thank you to everyone involved. Had a dream and plan since three years old, and it’s actually happening. Insane feeling.”

The 22-year-old driver has spent each of the last two seasons competing on a full-time basis in the ARCA Meanrds Series, driving for REV Racing. While coming just short of a victory several times, Scott has collected 26 top-fives in 46 career starts in ARCA, as well as a pair of runner-up championship results.

Earlier this year, Scott got the opportunity to dip his toes into NASCAR’s National Series for the first time in his career, driving the No. 45 for Alpha Prime Racing in a pair of events at Dover Motor Speedway and World Wide Technology Raceway, where he finished 28th and 19th.

Scott will be visiting a majority of these racetracks for the first time in his career, but will be able to lean on veteran teammate Brennan Poole for advice, as the native of The Woodlands, Texas, returns to the organization to drive the No. 44 Chevrolet.

Additional updates regarding Scott’s 2026 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series campaign, including sponsorship and personnel, will come in the form of an announcement from Alpha Prime Racing at a later date.
