Former NASCAR Driver Mike Skinner Claims Win at U.S. Short Track Nationals

Mike Skinner is still out there hustling stock cars around looking for checkered flags. Saturday night, at Bristol Motor Speedway the 61-year old took home a major trophy in the Pro Late Model U.S. Short Track Nationals race.

Skinner, who looked to be cruising to this same win a year ago before an accident ended his day, won the pole for the event.

Like many local short track races around the country, the field was inverted before the race began, so Skinner started from the rear.

As he worked his way to the front he suffered damage to his car. After repairs Skinner would start in the back of the pack yet again.

However, Skinner wouldn’t be deterred as he nabbed the lead on lap 42 of the 100 lap event. He wouldn’t look back as he captured the victory.
