There are 38 cars on the preliminary entry list for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway, the 19th race of the 36-race 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season.
With up to 40 cars being permitted to start races in the NASCAR Cup Series, no drivers and teams will head home at the conclusion of this weekend’s qualifying session.
Christopher Bell, last weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race winner at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, returns in the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Camry XSE with primary sponsorship from DeWalt. Bell, who is tied for the series-lead with three wins this year, is looking to break his tie with William Byron, Kyle Larson, and Denny Hamlin this weekend.
The “Open” entries this weekend will be the No. 50 23XI Racing Toyota Camry XSE, which will be piloted by full-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competitor Corey Heim, and the No. 66 MBM Motorsports entry with Chad Finchum behind the wheel. Heim, a Georgia native, made his first two NASCAR Cup Series starts earlier this season driving in place of the injured Erik Jones. Heim has a best Cup Series finish of 22nd, which he snagged at Kansas Speedway. He’ll look to better that finish in the Mobil 1 car this weekend.
Another neat note on the entry list is the special paint scheme for Alex Bowman and the No. 48 Ally Hendrick Motorsports team. The paint scheme will be “Nashville-themed” with bright colors, neon lights, and a guitar on the sides of the car. The scheme was designed by Dale Earnhardt Jr., who has designed the Ally car in each of the four years that Ally has been the title sponsor of the Ally 400 at Nashville.
Additional notable entries for this event include Riley Herbst, who will pilot the No. 15 Rick Ware Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse for the third time this season, and AJ Allmendinger will return to the No. 16 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for his seventh NASCAR Cup Series start of the season.
