There are 39 cars on the preliminary entry list for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, race 22 of the 36-race 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season.
This marks the fourth consecutive NASCAR Cup Series race, and the 15th race this season with more than just the 36 Chartered NASCAR Cup Series entries on the entry list. With up to 40 cars being permitted to start in races in the NASCAR Cup Series, no drivers or teams will go home following this week’s qualifying session.
Ryan Blaney, who won last weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway, will return this weekend in the No. 12 Team Penske Ford Mustang Dark Horse with primary sponsorship from Menards / Atlas.
Among the notables in the 36 Chartered Entries include Cody Ware in the No. 15 Rick Ware Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse and AJ Allmendinger in the No. 16 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
As far as the “Open” entries are concerned, Ty Dillon will drive the No. 33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, BJ McLeod will pilot the No. 66 MBM Motorsports Ford Mustang Dark Horse, and Jimmie Johnson will be back behind the wheel of the No. 84 LEGACY MOTOR CLUB Toyota Camry XSE.
