Ryan Blaney got a little too close for comfort when he attempted a side draft of William Byron’s No. 24 car in the Final Stage of Sunday’s South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Blaney made slight contact with Byron, which caused the left rear sheetmetal on Byron’s car to rub his tire.

Both drivers involved are Playoff contenders.

After a few laps, Byron’s tire finally went flat on lap 181.

Byron went spinning, but fortunately he did not hit anything. Byron was able to get to pit road and get fresh tires, and after a heads up maneuver by his Hendrick Motorsports teammate and race leader Chase Elliott to slow down early, Byron stayed on the lead lap.
