Will Brown, who captured the 2024 Australia Supercars Championship, is looking to return to the United States for a two-race stint in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2025, the driver stated in a recent episode of Supercars’ Drivers’ Only Podcast.
“Hopefully two NASCAR races. That’s the plan,” Brown explained. “I’ll say one, but hopefully two if the car’s available.”
A report from Speed Cafe states that Brown is eyeing competing in the NASCAR Cup Series events at Circuit of the Americas on March 2, and the Chicago Street Course on July 6. The native of Australia, who made his NASCAR Cup Series debut in 2024 driving the No. 33 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing, is expected to return to RCR for the two-race commitment in 2025.
In the podcast appearance, Brown confirmed that the Chicago Street Race is the event that is up in the air. Brown said the No. 33 Richard Childress Racing car may not be available due to overwhelming demand for that race. And if the NASCAR Cup Series event is a no-go, Brown would entertain running the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at the Chicago Street Course instead in 2025.
“Chicago is one I want to do but a lot of the guys over there want to do it, so it’s [dependent on] if a car is available, a team is available,” Brown said. “I’m waiting to hear on that one. That’d be awesome if I could try and do that, but I’d be happy to do Xfinity if I couldn’t get that. Obviously, Xfinity over there is pretty big.”
With the 2025 Supercars schedule conflicting with Sonoma Raceway, where he made his NASCAR Cup Series debut in 2024, and the NASCAR Cup race at Watkins Glen, those two events will not be potential venues for Brown to run in 2025.
Brown, 26, opened eyes in practice for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Toyota / Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway as the veteran road racer turned the third-fastest lap in the practice session. However, Brown was plagued by mechanical issues in qualifying and the actual race, where he would finish 31st, three laps off the pace.
