Video: Tyler Reddick Crashes From Lead, Multi-Car Crash Ensues at Bristol

Well, that was wild. Tyler Reddick had just inherited the race lead in Sunday’s Food City 500 at Bristol as he was the lone driver to stay out under a caution for debris on Lap 23. That decision proved to be costly as he lost control in the middle of a three-wide battle with Bubba Wallace and Josh Berry.

As Reddick spun sideways, he collided with the side of Berry’s No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford Mustang, and then careened back into Michael McDowell, who was trying to scoot by on the outside. As Reddick continued to skid back to the inside of the track, he caught rookie contender Zane Smith, who popped into him.

Several other drivers would get damage in sections of collisions behind the initial accident.

In all, 13 cars were involved.

Drivers involved included Reddick, Berry, McDowell, Smith, Todd Gilliland, Corey LaJoie, AJ Allmendinger, Daniel Hemric, Kaz Grala, Carson Hocevar, Joey Logano, Austin Cindric, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Here is an additional replay of the crash:

Of the cars involved, Allmendinger and Reddick lost laps in the crash. Allmendinger is one Lap down and Reddick is two laps off the pace.

William Byron, who had an early incident that broke the toe link on his No. 24 car, gained one of his spots back with the free pass. Byron is now five laps behind in last place.
