Video: Todd Gilliland Suffers Brake Issue, Scrubs Wall; Out of Race at Pocono

Todd Gilliland and the No. 38 Front Row Motorsports team came into Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series The Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono Raceway riding a solid wave of momentum. Gilliland had finished 17th-or-better in each of his last nine starts. That streak will not extend to 10 races as he is done for the day after completing 115 laps in Long Pond, PA.

On Lap 116, Gilliland suffered a brake failure, which seemed like an exploded brake rotor from the onboard camera. As Gilliland screamed down the Long Pond straightaway, the driver of the No. 38 machine chose to scrub his car into the outside wall in an effort to scrub some speed off.

The move was successful in helping Gilliland avoid a massive hit into the treacherous Turn 1 wall, but he is done for the day after the brake failure. Gilliland will end the day with a 34th-place finish. This will mark just the second DNF of the year for Gilliland, and his first since the season-opening Daytona 500.
