Ross Chastain’s journey to the ‘Championship 4’ at Phoenix as gotten a little bit convoluted. after an incident to start the race’s final stage.
The incident, the first of any kind in Sunday’s Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway, not only forced Chastain to bring his Trackhouse Racing entry down pit road, but it also derailed a potential top-five run for Brad Keselowski.
Keselowski, who was battling for position on a restart with Chastain, was spun around in turn three, after the No. 1 locked up the brakes heading into the corner, sending him into the RFK entry.

Keselowski was able to escape only making slight contact with the outside wall, but both himself and Chastain had to make the trip to pit road, in order to make sure there was no major damage – visible or mechanical – to either car.
