Video: Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. Noses Inside Wall in Darlington Cup Practice

Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. and JTG Daugherty Racing have sustained damage to their NASCAR Cup Series entry following an incident in the opening minutes of Saturday’s practice from Darlington Raceway.

The Olive Branch, Mississippi-native was exiting the final corner when he lost control of his No. 47 Chevrolet Camaro, spinning down the racetrack and nosing into the inside wall.

At the time of the incident, Stenhouse had his No. 47 Drumstick Chevrolet Camaro sitting in third place on the speed charts. The damage was significant enough that the 36-year-old driver was unable to return to the track for additional practice time.

No word on whether JTG Daugherty Racing will attempt to fix the primary or move to a backup for Sunday’s Cook Out Southern 500.

The crash is a significant setback for the organization, who entering the regular-season finale at Darlington Raceway is in a must-win situation, sitting well outside the top-20 in NASCAR Cup Series points.
