Video: Playoff Contender Alex Bowman Runs Into Trouble on Lap 1 at the Roval

Up until the final minute of practice on Saturday, it looked like things were shaping up to be a good weekend for Alex Bowman. Bowman entered the weekend two points behind the Playoff cutoff, but he was slated to roll from the outside pole.

Instead, he crashed in the final moments of practice, which relegated him to a backup car. As a result, Bowman would start Sunday’s Bank of America 400 at the Roval from the rear of the field. It didn’t take long for Bowman to find trouble as he went into the backstretch chicane with too much speed, and spun out.

Bowman would cut the chicane in the process which would result in a black flag to add insult to injury.
