Kyle Busch radioed to his team that there was an issue with his car, but they attempted to nurse it to the end of Stage 1. It didn’t work, and Busch backed it hard into the outside wall on Lap 74.

The Round of 12 of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs has gotten off to a horrendous start for Kyle Busch and the No. 8 Richard Childress Racing team. Busch’s day came to an end after he drove his Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in reverse for nearly a mile back to pit road.

Busch had been complaining that it felt like he had a right front tire that had gone flat, but his team attempted to get him to limp the car around for the final few laps of the opening Stage of the race.

On Lap 74, the No. 8 car finally lost traction in Turns 1 and 2, and Busch went backward and slammed hard into the outside wall.

Here is a video of the crash that did in Busch’s day:

Busch came into the day as the sixth seed in the Round of 12, but his ranking will certainly take a hit after his massive hit into the outside wall on Lap 74.
