Kimi Räikkönen NASCAR debut crash Watkins Glen
Kimi Räikkönen saw his NASCAR Cup Series debut come to an end early after an incident on lap 45 at Watkins Glen. Screengrab from USA Network broadcast

Kimi Räikkönen had impressed, getting inside the top-10 at one point in his NASCAR Cup Series debut, driving for Trackhouse Racing in the PROJECT91 entry at Watkins Glen International, but it all came undone on lap 45.

Ahead of Räikkönen, his Trackhouse teammate Ross Chastain made contact with Austin Dillon, which sent Dillon’s No. 3 car spinning in the bus stop. The collision between Chastain and Dillon caused a bottleneck, which led to Brad Keselowski and Loris Hezemans making contact.

Hezemans would then get into Räikkönen causing the No. 91 car to lift off the ground. Räikkönen would then end up into the barrier and would be done for the day.
