Video: Four-Wide Situation Triggers Five-Car Wreck Involving Denny Hamlin, Chase Briscoe

The NASCAR Cup Series event at Atlanta Motor Speedway is now under the red flag after another multi-car accident broke out in the late stages of the Ambetter Health 400 — this time involving Chase Briscoe and Denny Hamlin.

Inside the final 20 laps of Sunday’s event, Daniel Suarez made an optimistic move to the inside lane four-wide, leaving Denny Hamlin and Chase Briscoe to avoid contact with each other.

However, they weren’t successful, with Hamlin tapping the left-rear corner of the No. 14 Ford Mustang, sending him spinning in the third corner. That collected others like Josh Berry, Harrison Burton, and Justin Haley.

Briscoe sustained extensive damage to the front of his No. 14 Ford Mustang, forcing him to retire from the event prematurely. However, Hamlin, Berry, Burton, and Haley were all able to continue without any major problems.

With this wreck, Briscoe and Berry were removed from the list of drivers who haven’t been involved in an incident during Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event, leaving just four people without an incident.
