NASCAR Cup Series Playoff contender Denny Hamlin has had a promising day go sour in the final laps of Sunday’s AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, getting involved in his second incident in the last 25 laps of Sunday’s opening race of the ‘Round of 8’.
The wreck happened when contact between Chase Briscoe and Chris Buescher turned the No. 17 Fastenal Ford Mustang off of the second corner, right in front of playoff contender Denny Hamlin, who sustained heavy damage to the front end of the No. 11 Craftsman Toyota Camry throwing another wrench into the playoff round for the two-time winner this season.

Hamlin was able to continue in the event after the team was thrashing to try and get the car fixed. Unfortunately, Chris Buescher, coming off of his first top-five of the year at Charlotte’s ROVAL, was unable to continue and would be relegated to a poor finish at the 1.5-mile oval.
