Cole Custer’s No. 41 car had a fire break out on the left front on lap 99 of Sunday’s Cup Series race at Michigan.

Fire and race cars are a sight that nobody likes to see. But fortunately, Cole Custer was able to get out of the No. 41 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford Mustang after it engulfed in flames on lap 99 of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

Here is video of the No. 41 car’s issues, which came in the middle of a green flag pit sequence:

Custer would climb from the car and the fire safety team would extinguish the flames, but Custer’s day came to an early end.

Erik Jones, who had yet to pit under the green flag pit stop sequence, held onto the lead of the race due to the caution for Custer’s fire.
