It’s been an afternoon full of incidents at Michigan International Speedway, the latest of which was polesitter Christopher Bell, who crashed 66 laps into Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400.
Unique to the other incidents on the afternoon, Bell, driving the No. 20 Toyota Camry TRD, was battling for the lead with Alex Bowman, and had gotten mostly clear, when his Joe Gibbs Racing entry snapped around, smacking the outside wall in Turn 1.
FROM THE LEAD!@CBellRacing is the latest driver to step over the edge in Sunday’s #NASCAR Cup Series event at @MISpeedway, crashing in Turn 1 while going for the lead.
Bell joins Berry, Byron, Elliott, and Busch as drivers with issues this afternoon.

Despite spinning in front of the entire field, Bell was able to keep his incident as a single-car crash, sliding to the outside wall and staying there, without collecting anybody else in the process.
However, unlike the other four drivers involved in various incidents this afternoon, Bell was able to continue on in the event, despite the damage to his No. 20 Toyota Camry.
