Add Christopher Bell to the list of NASCAR Cup Series winners that have found problems at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend, after a multi-car accident in the race’s second stage started with the Joe Gibbs Racing driver.
A native of Norman, Oklahoma, Bell was running inside the top-10 when the No. 20 Rheem Toyota Camry XSE snapped loose at the exit of the fourth corner, crashing hard into the outside wall.
But, that’s not where the accident ended. Alex Bowman, driving the No 48 Ally Chevrolet, was attempting to get slowed down for the accident when he spun his Hendrick Motorsports entry at the exit of turn four, which was slammed seconds later by a full-speed sliding John Hunter Nemechek, who couldn’t get slowed down either.
Bell and Nemechek continued on the racetrack with the significant damage they sustained in the wreck, while Alex Bowman was forced to retire from the event due to the heavy front-end damage on his No. 48. Bowman will finish either 37th or 38th, depending on whether or not Austin Hill — who had a steering issue — is able to return to the racetrack.
