Austin Dillon suffered a massive impact into the outside wall in Turn 4 on lap 317 of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Xfinity 500 at Martinsville.

Martinsville is a track where you need your brakes to work 1,000 times over the course of a NASCAR Cup Series event. Unfortunately, for Austin Dillon the brakes on the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet Camaro didn’t make it to the conclusion of Sunday’s Xfinity 500.

On lap 317, Dillon had an issue with his brake rotor, which sent his car skidding hard into the outside wall.

Here is a video of the monstrous impact for Dillon:

Dillon made it into the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs after scoring a win at Daytona International Speedway in the regular-season finale. Dillon was bounced from the Playoffs in the opening round of the Playoffs.

But he’s been building momentum for the 2023 season, where he’ll be paired with new crew chief Keith Rodden. Dillon had scored three consecutive top-10 finishes heading into Sunday’s race.

Tyler Reddick, Dillon’s RCR teammate, who will be replaced by Kyle Busch in 2023, also left the race early due to a headache on lap 188.
