What a touching tribute to one of the very best to ever wield a microphone in the history of motorsports.

Stewart-Haas Racing will carry a special decal in memory of the legendary Bob Jenkins, who passed away this week after a battle with cancer, below the A-post on each of their cars in the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series events this weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course.

Andy Jeffers, of Sports & Entertainment Media shared a photo of the decal to Twitter on Saturday.

Jenkins, who was 73, was one of the first anchors on ESPN when the network debuted in 1979. With ESPN, Jenkins served as the lead anchor for ESPN’s NASCAR coverage from 1979 until the network and NASCAR parted ways at the end of the 2000 season.

Jenkins stayed with ABC/ESPN until 2003.

Over the years Jenkins built a loyal following of fans of his work, and he became a staple in Indianapolis as he was “The Voice of the Indy 500” from 1990 to 1998.

Jenkins was a legend in every sense of the word, and it is excellent to see Stewart-Haas Racing honoring him this weekend by giving him a place on each of their race cars.
