NASCAR issued its weekly penalty report on Wednesday morning, and included in the report were a bevy of suspensions and fines dished out in the wake of the post-race scuffle between Kyle Busch, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and their respective teams.

For throwing the punch at Busch, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has been fined $75,000 by NASCAR. Officially, Stenhouse violated sections 4.4 D of the NASCAR Rule Book, which pertains to the NASCAR Member Code of Conduct.

Three others were also found to be in violation of that section of the Rule Book as part of the post-race altercation at North Wilkesboro.

Stenhouse’s father, Ricky Stenhouse Sr. has been indefinitely suspended by NASCAR for his part in the post-race tussle. After Stenhouse Jr. landed his punch, Stenhouse Sr. jumped into the situation and locked up with Busch.

Additionally, Keith Matthews the No. 47 JTG Daugherty Racing tuner and Clint Myrick a mechanic for the No. 47 JTG Daugherty Racing team have been suspended for their parts in the incident. Matthews has been suspended for the next four NASCAR Cup Series events, and will be eligible to return after the race at Iowa Speedway. Myrick has been suspended for the next eight races, and will be eligible to return after the event at Pocono Raceway.

All of these penalties are currently open for appeal.

That concludes the penalties assessed for the post-race fight at the NASCAR All-Star Race, but there were more penalties assessed in the weekly penalty report.

Dawson Backus, who serves as the Rear Changer on the No. 7 Spire Motorsports pit crew in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, has been suspended for this weekend’s NASCAR National Series action at Charlotte Motor Speedway due to violating sections 14.2.1.2 B & C & D of the NASCAR Rule Book, which pertains to Crew Protective Clothing and Equipment.

Jeff Stankiewicz, the crew chief for Grant Enfinger’s No. 9 CR7 Motorsports team in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series was also issued a $2,500 fine for an unsecured lug nut in post-race inspection.

One final penalty issued on the report was an indefinite suspension for a violation of the sanctioning body’s substance abuse policy. Rowan Mason has been indefinitely suspended by NASCAR for violating Sections 4.1 & 10.1.A of the NASCAR Rule Book.

  1. The fine of $75,000 to Ricky Stenhouse was a good lesson for all NASCAR drivers! It was totally uncalled for. Sure, he was upset, but Kyle Busch never showed any aggression whatsoever. Actually, Kyle has grounds to have Ricky arrested for assault!

  2. I respect NASCAR’S decision to fine and dismiss team members along with Stenhouse’s dad. Their actions have no place on the Racetrack! The safety of the drivers should be of utmost importance! We don’t need confrontations like that ever!
