Following this past weekend’s triple-header race weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, NASCAR has issued its weekly penalty report. Included in this week’s report are six suspensions, four of which were for safety violations on pit road, while the other two were for violations of the sanctioning body’s substance abuse policy.

The safety violations won’t shock anyone, as everyone expected two crew members each from Kyle Busch’s No. 8 Richard Childress Racing pit crew, and Chase Briscoe’s No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing pit crew to serve two-race suspensions due to detached wheels from each of their cars in last Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas.

For the No. 8 team, they’ll be without Rear Changer Shiloh Windsor, and Jack Man Joseph Moser. Filling in for those two crew members this weekend will be No. 99 Viking Motorsports NASCAR Xfinity Series Rear Changer Chris Jackson, and No. 5 Our Motorsports NASCAR Xfinity Series Jack Man Garrett Crall.

The No. 19 JGR team will lose Rear Changer Daniel Smith and Jack Man Caleb Dirks. Filling in for Smith and Dirks will be Adam Riley and Nate McBride, the Rear Changer and Jack Man for the No. 4 Front Row Motorsports team.

In addition to the four suspensions for safety violations, NASCAR handed out indefinite suspensions for substance abuse policy violations for Josiah Wright, and Corbin Sklener.

Wright had been the Rear Changer for Brad Keselowski’s No. 6 RFK Racing NASCAR Cup Series pit crew this season, while Sklener had been the Jack Man for the No. 74 Mike Harmon Racing team in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

NASCAR also announced fines for five combined teams between the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series garages for unsecured lug nuts discovered in post-race inspection at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

In the Xfinity Series, the No. 11 Kaulig Racing team, No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing team, No. 26 Sam Hunt Racing team, and No. 88 JR Motorsports team were all issued $5,000 fines, while the No. 07 Spire Motorsports NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team was hit with a $2,500 fine.

  1. If Nascar keeps up with these stupid fines and suspensions, they will see even MORE sponsors leave the sport. Each year we see more long time sponsors leave. They, as advertisers, see their money being wasted as Nascar fills its coffers with found loot. Yes, they say the fines go into a special charity fund. But, do they? Nascar has gotten way to full of itself. The cost of running a car, or cars, is getting very costly. They need to stop the foolishness, and let the “Racers Race”. It is all taking its toll. Even the stands are not full anymore. There are just too many other places for the fans to spend time and money on. It’s time for the “Body” to wake up!
