FORT WORTH, Texas — NASCAR silly season is still in full swing. There are still some chairs that could be up for grab and tons of rumors swirling around the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series, and several drivers, such as Daniel Hemric, Daniel Suarez and Michael McDowell, are still trying to land their place for next season.

Here are some updates that I was able to grab for you Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway:

Obviously, Kurt Busch coming to a multi-year agreement with Monster Energy and Chip Ganassi Racing to drive the No. 1 Chevrolet was the biggest silly season news of the weekend.

Michael McDowell says that although he is not yet signed to drive Front Row Motorsports’ No. 34 Ford Mustang next season, negotiations are underway and he hopes to have something to announce in a week or two.

Daniel Suarez is still feverishly working on a deal to remain at Stewart-Haas Racing. Many have him rumored to take over one of the Front Row Motorsports cars next season, if he is unable to retain his place in SHR’s No. 41 car. Suarez told me on Saturday, that he does not have a backup plan in place if the SHR deal falls through.

Daniel Hemric, who has lost his ride in Richard Childress Racing’s No. 8 car for 2020, says that he has no answers as to any potential landing spots for next year. He says it seems like teams are waiting for some big dominoes to fall before committing to anything.

Corey LaJoie says that he is close to reaching a deal to return to Go Fas Racing’s No. 32 car next season. On Friday, Go Fas Racing’s team owner Archie St. Hilaire told me that Cole Custer will not be coming to his team, although that scenario has been widely speculated. Instead, Hilaire says that LaJoie is his prime target to return to the car. LaJoie echoed the same on Saturday, saying that he wants to be in the No. 32 again next season and that a deal could be announced in a week or two.
