Sherry Pollex, the long-time girlfriend of 2017 NASCAR Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr., has suffered a recurrence of ovarian cancer. Pollex shared the news in an update posted to Twitter on Friday.

According to the update, Pollex has Stage 3C recurrent ovarian cancer. In the update, Pollex indicated that she will be undergoing surgery in hopes of full removal of the cancer, and once that is done she will undergo chemotherapy.

Pollex is a fighter in every definition of the word. At the age of 35, she was first diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer and was given a slim chance of survival. She pushed through, fought and with incredible work from her medical team, Pollex defeated cancer. Unfortunately, it has returned.

Our thoughts are with Pollex as she prepares for another bout with cancer.

Pollex’s story of overcoming cancer of course was the heart-string tugging storyline of Truex’s 2017 NASCAR Cup Series championship season.

Pollex has started a foundation Sherry Strong, which focuses on educating women about ovarian cancer and it’s signs, as well as fundraising to pay for treatments for women who are battling ovarian cancer.

  1. Wishing Sherry Pollex all the prayers for her speedy recovery in fighting the cancer. Prayers are forth coming???????

  2. God bless you Sherry. I hope you’re cancer free when you read this. I’m preparing for a surgical biopsy in February for uterine cancer and have a sister and cousin who are breast cancer survivors.
