Report: NASCAR to Announce New Rules Package For 2020 Cup Series Short Tracks

After a season, which saw a total of just 20 lead changes between the four races at Richmond and Martinsville, NASCAR is prepared to make changes to the rules package for the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season as it pertains to the shorter tracks on the schedule. This is according to a report from Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern, which cites sources.

In the report, Stern mentions that the sanctioning body is expected to make an announcement on the package within the coming weeks and that the big changes will revolve around the spoiler and splitter areas on the car.

Reports following the 2019 season, suggested that NASCAR would not make any changes to their competition package for 2020, but apparently they have gotten the team owners on board with expenditures associated with the latest rules changes.

This is a much needed change, which should help build some excitement for the short track races in 2020.
