Brodie Kostecki, the current second-place driver in Australian Supercars standings, is reportedly set to travel to the United States in August, to make his NASCAR Cup Series debut in the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard, at the Indy Road Course.

The report was first published by AUTO ACTION on July 12, and states that the native of Perth, Australia will pilot a Chevrolet-backed entry in the event, although the specifics of said entry have yet to be disclosed.

Of note, Erebus Motorsport, the team in which Kostecki competes for in the Australian Supercars, has a relationship with established NASCAR Cup Series team Richard Childress Racing, which fields entries for Austin Dillon and Kyle Busch.

In June 2022, Kostecki was said to be aiming for a 2023 debut in the NASCAR Cup Series, per SpeedCafe.com, after having visited the United States to be a spectator of the Indianapolis 500 and the Cup Series’ first-ever trip to WWT Raceway.

According to the report, Kostecki was believed to have everything “well under control” prior to the stunning performance by Shane Van Gisbergen in the inaugural Grant Park 220 earlier this month.

Though, Kostecki isn’t necessarily a brand-new name on the NASCAR scene, having competed in 16 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (now ARCA Menards Series) events in 2013 and 2014.

In his time competing in the United States, Kostecki scored a single top-five finish, coming home fifth at Dover Motor Speedway, as well as four top-10 results and two pole positions, at Iowa and Watkins Glen in 2014.

The 200-mile contest will be run on Sunday, August 13. Among notable non-NASCAR names scheduled to contest the same event include Conor Daly, and Kamui Kobayashi.
