Randall Burnett will move on from Richard Childress Racing at season’s end and will move to Trackhouse Racing to become the crew chief for Connor Zilisch in 2026.
Trackhouse Racing announced the acquisition of Burnett on Tuesday morning in a post shared to social media.

After the news was officially released, Zilisch issued a post on his personal X account welcoming his new crew chief to the team.
“Stoked to welcome Randall to the team! Can’t wait for next year,” Zilisch said.
Zilisch, one of the hottest prospects in recent memory, will compete for Rookie of the Year honors with Burnett atop the pit box next season.
Burnett, a native of Fenton, MO, has been the crew chief of the No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet since the start of the 2020 season. Burnett has collected six NASCAR Cup Series victories in 250 career NASCAR Cup Series starts.
In addition to the six wins, Burnett has accumulated 36 top-five finishes and 85 top-10s as a crew chief in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Prior to moving to the NASCAR Cup Series as a full-time crew chief in 2020, Burnett won the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship as the crew chief for Tyler Reddick.
Reddick secured his first career NASCAR Cup Series win with Burnett, who also secured his first career win as a crew chief, at Road America in 2022. The pairing then won at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course and Texas Motor Speedway to cap off a three-win season.
Reddick departed Richard Childress Racing to move to 23XI Racing for the 2023 season. With Reddick on the move, Kyle Busch joined RCR and was paired with Burnett.
With Burnett on the pit box, Busch got his stint at Richard Childress Racing off to a fast start as they won three races, Auto Club, Talladega, and Gateway, in their first season together. However, since the three-win season in 2023, Busch and Burnett have gone cold.
Busch has gone winless over his last 87 races, the longest winless drought of his NASCAR Cup Series career.
Burnett will look to get Busch back into victory lane before moving to Trackhouse Racing next season.
Zilisch, 19, who will partner with Burnett next season, has amassed nine victories this year in the NASCAR Xfinity Series ranks. Currently, Zilisch has a streak of 15 consecutive top-five finishes in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
