UPDATE: 9:44 PM ET:

It is looking like we are starting to get closer to a return to racing, as the lighting hold was officially lifted by NASCAR at 9:38 PM ET and all that remains before racing can resume is track drying to finish up.

The NASCAR Cup Series Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway was halted at lap 140 when lightning struck nearby the race track. Shortly after the race went into a hold for lightning, a strong rain and lighting shower came through.

At the time of the red flag, Denny Hamlin had the lead of the race with Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Christopher Bell rounding out the top-five in the running order.

Rain began to slow and track drying began around 9:00 PM ET.

When the race does resume, it will be broadcast on USA Network. As long as there are no other delays, it looks like the finish of the event will come tonight. If weather does delay the race’s conclusion until Monday, the race will resume at noon ET on USA Network.

This story will be updated with an official expected restart time, when one comes from NASCAR.
