On Friday, NASCAR announced penalties for three NASCAR Cup Series entries as a result of multiple failures in pre-qualifying inspection from Talladega Superspeedway.
Both Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 19 and JTG Daugherty Racing’s No. 47 failed pre-qualifying inspection twice, resulting in the ejection of one crew member from each organization – Nick Burton (19) and Travis Young (47) — and the loss of pit selection for Sunday’s race.
Spire Motorsports will have more severe penalties presented to them, after the team’s No. 77 Chevrolet Camaro failed pre-qualifying inspection three times on Friday. The organization will lose a crew member – car chief JR Norris — as well as pit selection for Sunday’s race.
Additionally, Landon Cassill will be unable to qualify the No. 77 FOX Nation Chevrolet on Saturday and must serve a pass-through penalty at the first opportunity in Sunday’s GEICO 500.
