NASCAR has decided on the penalties for Kyle Busch’s unsafe entrance to the garage area following a crash in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. Busch will be fined $50,000.

According to NASCAR, Busch violated sections 12.1.a; 12.5.2.5.a; 12.8.a of the NASCAR rulebook.

Section 12.5.2.5.a of the rulebook reads: “Safety is a top priority for NASCAR and NEM. Therefore, any violations deemed to compromise the safety of an Event or otherwise pose a dangerous risk to the safety of competitors, officials, spectators, or others are treated with the highest degree of seriousness.”

On Tuesday morning, NASCAR’s Executive Vice President of Competition Scott Miller stated that the sanctioning body was, “Taking a hard look,” at what penalties if any that they would levy toward Busch.

  1. I believe that Kyle should have been suspended for 1 race and on probation for rest of the season. He could have hurt or even killed someone for his entrance to the garage.
