Katherine Legge has teamed up with part-time NASCAR Cup Series organization Live Fast Motorsports to compete in Sunday’s Shriners Children’s 500 at Phoenix Raceway.

The native of Guildford, England will pilot the No. 78 Live Fast Motorsports Chevrolet in her NASCAR Cup Series debut on Sunday, March 9, with DROPLiGHT serving as the primary sponsor of the effort.

When the green flag is displayed for Sunday’s 312-lap contest in Avondale, Arizona, Legge will become the first woman to make a NASCAR Cup Series start since 2018, when Danica Patrick wrapped up her NASCAR career in the DAYTONA 500.

Legge, 44, has competed in several different forms of motorsports across the world, including the NASCAR Xfinity Series, NTT IndyCar Series, United SportsCar Championship, IMSA SportsCar Championship, Formula E, and European Le Mans Series.

Earlier this season, Legge made her debut in the ARCA Menards Series at Daytona International Speedway, driving for Sigma Performance Services.

The veteran racer has run in NASCAR’s National Series before, running five NASCAR Xfinity Series events — four in 2018 and one in 2023 — which resulted in a career-best finish of 14th.

Legge has also contested an oval race in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, running at Richmond Raceway in 2018 and finishing 28th.

Last season, Legge competed in seven NTT IndyCar Series events for Dale Coyne Racing, collecting a season-best finish of 15th at The Milwaukee Mile. By qualifying for the Indianapolis 500 in 2023, Legge set a record for the fastest qualifying effort by a woman in the history of the storied race.

The Shriners Children’s 500 from Phoenix Raceway will take place on Sunday, March 9 at 3:30 PM ET on FS1, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
