Joe Gibbs Racing announced some additions to the organization’s leadership team on Thursday. Headlining the announcements is the addition of Michael Guttilla as the team’s Chief Operating Officer.

Guttilla, who has spent more than 35 years as an engineering executive in the automotive industry, will start work as JGR’s COO on June 19th. Most recently, Guttilla served as the Vice President of Engineering and R&D for Multimatic.

According to Joe Gibbs Racing President Dave Alpern, the addition of Guttilla came after an extensive search, which began in late 2022.

“We’re excited to welcome Michael into our Joe Gibbs Racing family,” said Alpern in a team press release. “This was an exhaustive process that started toward the end of last season. We announced the hiring of our new Chief Commercial Officer, Eric Schaffer, just before the start of our season and Michael will be another key pillar in helping lead us into the future. To get a leader of Michael’s caliber will be a tremendous boost to our race team and the development of our people.”

In addition to the hire of Guttilla, JGR announced the promotion of Toni Rogers, who will move from Vice President of Human Resources to the role of Chief People Officer. According to the release from the team, Rogers, who has been with JGR since 2011, will head up a newly re-envisioned human resources department.

“The Gibbs family has always said you win with people,” added Alpern. “Toni has been a tremendous asset to our race team for more than a decade now and she will play a key role in prioritizing our people and our culture.”

Guttilla and Rogers are now part of the new leadership team at Joe Gibbs Racing, which also includes Alpern, new Chief Commercial Officer Eric Schaffer, and Chief Financial Officer Tim Carmichael.
