UPDATE: A representative from Rick Ware Racing tells TobyChristie.com that the organization is still working on figuring out their driver and sponsorship situation for Sunday’s GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, after Jennifer Jo Cobb was NOT approved by NASCAR to run the event.

Jennifer Jo Cobb – a long-time team owner and driver in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series — has not been approved by NASCAR to run Sunday’s GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, NASCAR has announced.

According to FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass, the decision was NOT made because of her multiple incidents with Norm Benning in Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Richmond Raceway and was made strictly based on the driver’s performance / quality. Cobb was approved for the Cup Series multiple years ago, but because she didn’t run in the series she must be re-approved.

Cobb was set to make her first-ever start at NASCAR’s top-level and her 12th NASCAR National Series start at Talladega Superspeedway, piloting the No. 15 Arrowhead Brass Chevrolet Camaro for Rick Ware Racing.
