5-time Indianapolis 500 starter James Davison is set to return to the NASCAR Cup Series this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, driving the No. 53 for Rick Ware Racing.

Davison – who made his first two NASCAR Cup Series starts this season at Pocono Raceway in Spire Motorsports’ No. 77 — will be moving over to Rick Ware Racing for Sunday’s “Foxwoods Resort Casino 301”, where he looks to improve upon the career-best 30th-place finish he earned at Pocono.

The Melbourne, Victoria-native will be making his seventh NASCAR National Series start this weekend and his third on an oval, as the 33-year old ran multiple road course races for Joe Gibbs Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2017 and 2018.

Rick Ware Racing’s No. 53 currently sits 35th in 2020 NASCAR Cup Series owner standings, as a result of two Top 25 finishes in the last four events, with Josh Bilicki and Garrett Smithley.

Davison will have to lean on his more experienced Rick Ware Racing teammates of J.J. Yeley and Joey Gase, as well as the wealth of knowledge from crew chief Todd Parrott, who has accumulated 693 NASCAR Cup Series starts throughout his twenty-five year career as a crew chief.
