After the completion of post-race technical inspection in the streets of Chicago, it’s now become official: Shane Van Gisbergen is a winner in the NASCAR Cup Series.

The 34-year-old driver scored the victory in Sunday’s Grant Park 220 at the Chicago Street Course, marking his first victory at NASCAR’s top-level, in his first career start for Trackhouse Racing and PROJECT91.

In doing so, Van Gisbergen is the seventh driver in the history of the NASCAR Cup Series to win on debut in the series in 60 years, the latest of which was Johnny Rutherford at Daytona International Speedway in 1963.

With inspection complete, NASCAR deemed that there were no issues, meaning that all race results and points standings distributed by NASCAR post-race are now considered to be official.

Justin Haley will be awarded second place, while Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, and Kyle Busch will retain their finishes inside the top five. Austin Cindric, Michael McDowell, Joey Logano, Ty Gibbs, and Chris Buescher completed the top-10.
