Michael McDowell no longer has to worry about the point standings, as he stepped up, dominated and took the win in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Verizon 200 at The Brickyard. The driver of the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports Ford Mustang led a race-high 54 laps, and was able to hold off a late charge from Chase Elliott.

Following the race, McDowell’s race car endured a tour through the NASCAR post-race inspection bay, and it passed inspection. As a result, McDowell and the No. 34 FRM team were named the official winners of the race.

This is the second victory of McDowell’s NASCAR Cup Series career, the other being in the 2021 Daytona 500.

No issues were detected in post-race inspection, which means all results and standings following the Verizon 200 at The Brickyard are now considered official.

Elliott finished runner-up, Daniel Suarez was third, and Tyler Reddick and Alex Bowman rounded out the top-five finishers.
