One of the hottest topics of discussion during the second half of the year, has been whether or not Denny Hamlin will be diversifying his portfolio for next season, as it has been rumored over the last several months that the 39-year-old was looking at acquiring a large portion of Richard Petty Motorsports – who currently fields the No. 43 Chevrolet for Bubba Wallace.

Wallace – who recently announced his departure from Richard Petty Motorsports at the end of the season — has signed multiple big name sponsorship deals this season, which could bring upwards of $20 million in sponsorship to the Mobile, Alabama-native in 2021.

At this time, the most popular rumor places Wallace at Gaunt Brothers Racing in 2021, with Denny Hamlin acquiring Germain Racing’s No. 13 charter, a bidding war in which is nearing its conclusion, according to industry insiders.

One of the unchartered teams in the NASCAR Cup Series has relayed information to TobyChristie.com – on the condition of anonymity — that their bid for Germain Racing’s No. 13 charter was unsuccessful, despite making a rather large offer.

When pressed on whether he has made a bid for Germain Racing’s charter, Hamlin said “I can’t comment on any of that stuff… I don’t have anything to announce, and we’re not really talking about anything else beyond tonight.”

Hamlin has discussed the possibility of venturing into team ownership before, saying that he is always looking for opportunities to be involved in the sport after his driving career is over, but has not yet made any indication that he will be involved in team ownership next season.
