In a media event at the Chevrolet Experience Center at the infield of Daytona International Speedway, Hendrick Motorsports revealed a heaping helping of 40th-anniversary celebrations including paint schemes, a special edition production car, Rick Hendrick piloting a pace car, and a lot more.

Let’s dive into it all.

To kick off the event, Rick Hendrick was joined by Jeff Gordon, and the duo pulled the curtain back on a special-edition Chevrolet Camaro production car. Hendrick Motorsports will prepare 40 of the special ruby-red Chevrolet Camaros, which feature a special graphics package on the hood and roof of the car, which blends from the iconic Hendrick Motorsports checkered flag design to the stars and stripes of the American flag.

The car looks slick, and if the 14-time NASCAR Cup Series championship-winning Hendrick Motorsports team is preparing it, you know it will be just as fast as it is beautiful. 39 of the 40 Camaros will be available to purchase at select Hendrick Automotive dealerships, and the 40th of the special-edition cars will be given away to one lucky fan.

The giveaway will be in partnership with Ally and will be known as the Ally “Win Your Wheels” Sweepstakes powered by HendrickCars.com. The contest has opened, and entries can be cast on ally.com/sweepstakes/nascar. The contest will run through September 20.

Another interesting tidbit is that each of the 40 cars will come with a special owner’s kit, which will contain a behind-the-scenes tour of Hendrick Motorsports.

In addition to the special-edition Hendrick 40th Anniversary Camaro, the team made a lot of announcements, which will align with the spring NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway, a track where the team has won at a record 28 times, and was the site of the first victory for the organization back in 1984.

All four Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR Cup Series cars will feature striking ruby-red paint schemes in honor of Hendrick Motorsports’ ruby anniversary.

Additionally, Geoff Bodine (Hendrick Motorsports’ first race winner) and Jeff Gordon (the winningest driver in Hendrick Motorsports history) will serve as the grand marshals for the race at Martinsville.

Team owner Rick Hendrick, for the first time in his motorsports tenure, will drive the pace car for the race, and he joked at the event that he may turn more laps than the track and NASCAR are expecting.

Moving past the Martinsville Speedway race weekend, Hendrick Motorsports will host a free “Hendrick Homecoming” event for fans during the Coca-Cola 600 race weekend. On May 24-25, Hendrick Motorsports will open its doors to the fans and will have current and past drivers and crew chiefs available for appearances and autographs.

The event will cater to families and will feature food trucks, giveaways, live music, and many other fun entertainment options.

The NASCAR Hall of Fame will also have a special Hendrick 40th Anniversary exhibit in 2024, although details about the exhibit are not available at this time.

Overall, Thursday’s announcement by Hendrick Motorsports was a treasure trove of things to look forward to, and Jeff Gordon hinted that there will be plenty more Hendrick Motorsports 40th anniversary celebrations that have yet to be announced as the 2024 season rolls along.
