There are 41 drivers [for 40 spots] on the preliminary entry list for Sunday’s Grant Park 165 at the Chicago Street Course, the 19th event of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series campaign.

With the previously determined maximum field size for all NASCAR Cup Series events set at 40 entries, one driver and team will be packing up and heading back to their shop before Sunday’s third annual event on the streets of Chicago.

Outside of the season-opening DAYTONA 500, this weekend’s event will mark the first time since Fall 2018 at Texas Motor Speedway that there will be a DNQ in a NASCAR Cup Series event.

Among the drivers not locked into Sunday’s 165-mile NASCAR Cup Series event in Chicago (those who don’t hold NASCAR Cup Series Charters) are Will Brown (No. 13 Kaulig Racing), Austin Hill (No. 33 Richard Childress Racing), Josh Bilicki (No. 66 Garage 66), Corey Heim (No. 67 23XI Racing), and Katherine Legge (No. 78 Live Fast Motorsports).

Chase Elliott, last weekend’s winner from Atlanta Motor Speedway, will be chasing his second victory of the NASCAR Cup Series campaign at Chicago, driving the No. 9 Chevrolet with sponsorship from NAPA Auto Parts.
