There are 39 drivers [for 40 spots] on the preliminary entry list for Sunday’s (February 23) NASCAR Cup Series event at Atlanta Motor Speedway — dubbed the Ambetter Health 400.
Of the 39 drivers set to compete in Sunday’s event, only 36 are guaranteed a spot in every NASCAR Cup Series event this season, courtesy of the NASCAR Team Charter Agreement, which last Fall was renewed for another seven years.
For this weekend’s second of 36 points-paying events on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule, there are three “Open” teams on the entry list, those being Corey LaJoie (No. 01 Ford Mustang for Rick Ware Racing), JJ Yeley (No. 44 Chevrolet for NY Racing Team) and BJ McLeod (No. 78 Chevrolet for Live Fast Motorsports).
