Daniel Hemric, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year point leader, has been staying busy. In addition to his NASCAR driving duties on the weekends, the 28-year old has been getting down in his late model during the week.

Last week, Hemric finished ninth in the prestigious Slinger Nationals in Wisconsin, a race that was won by 2003 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Matt Kenseth. Now, this week Hemric returns to his roots to compete for a second win in the Redbud 400 at Anderson Speedway.

Hemric won this race back in 2014, and he was inside the top-five of practice for the event on Sunday.

In an interview with Speed51.com, Hemric said racing in the Redbud 400 is special.

“It’s special just to get back here and turn laps. It was definitely a special place for me that night back in 2014 and I’ve always wanted to come back and race here.”

If you can’t make it to Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana Monday night, the race can be watched on-line through a pay per view ticket on Speed51.com.
